Our mission is to discuss, evaluate, and create tangible solutions that drive intentional growth toward increased diversity and inclusive excellence within college athletics.  We want to ensure that diversity and inclusion professionals within sport are adequately supported in their quest to achieve inclusive excellence within diversity and inclusion in sport.

We believe every athletic department, sports team, conference, and sport organization should have a diversity and inclusion professional embedded into the organization. Diversity and Inclusion are not add-ons, they are essential.

WHAT IS DIECE?

The Mission of DIECE is to discuss, evaluate, and create tangible solutions that drive intentional growth toward increased diversity and inclusion within sport. DIECE is comprised of diversity and inclusion professionals who plan, direct, and implement diversity and inclusion programming, initiatives and practices within sport. 

DIECE will create and connect new and emerging diversity and inclusion positions in sport to provide a space and place for D&I Sport professionals to: 

  • Connect all diversity and inclusion leaders in sport. 

  • Learn and engage with strategies, best practices, programs, policies, initiatives, etc., that work toward inclusive excellence. 

  • Grow the reach and intentionality of diversity and inclusion in sport.

ATHLETICS DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION DESIGNEE (ADID)

Since August 2020, the NCAA requires each member institution has an Athletic Diversity and Inclusion Designee (ADID), someone who has access to athletic staff and student-athletes and acts as a liaison between the NCAA's Inclusion efforts and campuses.

SUPPORT FOR THE D&I PROFESSIONALS WITHIN ATHLETICS

There will be a considerable gap between individuals who have experience with the role and those tagged with the designation. How do we help them further develop in this new designation? Increased support will be critical.

About DIECE: Clients

WHY WAS DIECE FOUNDED?

When the current diversity and inclusion professionals within athletics took their respective roles, there were only a handful of individuals who had the position, thus a discrepancy between job responsibilities, best practices, and advancement for the role was present. After several months of planning, current diversity and inclusion professionals within sport thought it was necessary to create a membership organization to provide resources, support and best practices for the individuals tasked with creating strategies around diversity and inclusion within sport.
